Middle School

Middle School Is Different at Landmark

Imagine your middle schooler thriving. Imagine them building friendships, growing in their identity in Christ, and building an academic foundation that prepares them for high school and beyond.

In many schools, the middle grades are an awkward afterthought, but we believe that they are full of meaning and possibility. At Landmark we prioritize these foundational and formative years by providing unique scheduling, an intentional learning environment, targeted habit and leadership formation, and robust social opportunities for students.

Academics

Landmark middle school students benefit from a rich, relevant, and rewarding education that prepares them for a broad range of academic opportunities in high school and beyond.

In addition to the core curriculum, students can explore exciting disciplines such as fashion design, film production, engineering, and multiple world languages.

In addition to their academic achievement, we value the holistic development of our students. We encourage extracurricular activities, teamwork, and character-building. We aim to nurture well-rounded students with academic prowess but also strong interpersonal skills and a sense of responsibility.

At the heart of our school is our commitment to faith. We believe in fostering a Christ-centered environment, where students can grow in their relationship with God and develop a solid biblical worldview. Through regular devotions, chapel services, and Bible studies, we inspire our students to cultivate a personal faith that guides their actions, shapes their character, and prepares them to impact the world with integrity and compassion.

Landmark middle school students are inspired every day. Intentional leadership development training helps students develop high performance habits that lay the foundation for a life of impact. They think deeply and are encouraged to inquire boldly. Through engaging pre-academy STEAM programs, students are immersed in hands-on learning that stimulates innovation, invention, and creativity. It is the spark that ignites their imagination.

Service

Serving others is an integral part of a Landmark education, and students in every grade level have the opportunity to participate in multiple service projects throughout each school year at an age-appropriate level. Some of our regular opportunities include:

Serve Week

Middle School students participate in specific service activities both on campus and off campus in service to others. Middle School students have a unique opportunity to help Elementary students as part of the Landmark family during their times of service.

Through regular service, Landmark students learn that they have the opportunity and calling to be a blessing to others, and they have the opportunity to make an impact.

Community and Service

Community and service are integral aspects of our school culture. Landmark students build strong relationships and engage with the broader community. Students actively participate in service projects, outreach programs, and mission trips, extending a hand to those in need and learning the value of compassion, empathy, and servant leadership.

Middle School House System

Students find their tribe in our middle school House System. The house system fosters a sense of belonging, unity, and camaraderie, while encouraging teamwork, leadership development, and character growth with friendly competitions, service projects, and mentorship programs. Students have the opportunity to form strong relationships with their peers across grade levels, building a supportive network within the school community. The house system also promotes a healthy competitive spirit, driving academic and extracurricular excellence as students strive to earn points for their respective houses. Ultimately, the house system instills a strong sense of identity, purpose, and moral values, creating an environment where students can thrive academically, spiritually, and socially.

Extracurricular Opportunities

Engaging in extracurriculars promotes the development of valuable life skills such as teamwork, leadership, time management, and problem-solving. Whether it’s participating in a sports team, joining a debate club, exploring music and arts, or engaging in a sustainability club, these extracurriculars provide opportunities for students to discover their passions, enhance their self-confidence, and nurture their talents. These activities also promote a well-rounded education, as they complement the academic curriculum by encouraging creativity, critical thinking, and personal growth.

Clubs and Societies

The Eagle Society is an honor society designed to give our top scholars a chance to build on areas of interest. Each student will be given a chance to explore various college/career pathways and develop a working portfolio. After exploring interests and developing a focus, students will be prepared to enter the various academies in Landmark’s High School and have a better understanding of what they need to be prepared for entry into the appropriate collegiate program.

The Junior Beta Club is a national academic honor society that focuses on service and leadership. Identified members are selected based upon their academic work and demonstration of good citizenship. Members will need to continue to demonstrate service by completing eight service hours per semester throughout middle school. In the spring, seventh grade students will get the opportunity to run for club officer positions. The club looks forward to attending the State Junior Beta Convention in Savannah each December.

Our Middle School Eden Green Team is made up of students who are ready to get excited about "greening" our Landmark campus! Join the Green Team as we partner with National Green Schools Society. Our school desires to practice environmental stewardship through the Eden Sustainability Program. You can be a part of that! Visit cool environmental landmarks around campus. Hear from leading environmentalists who are shaping our world. Become an expert at environmental issues and learn how to solve problems. Influence change in your school through creative monthly awareness projects and challenges. Make new friends and have tons of indoor and outdoor fun!

Each semester, our middle school students have a different selection of clubs to choose from. These clubs give our students the opportunity to explore interests they have in a low pressure and fun environment. In addition to the groups mentioned above, our students have enjoyed a great selection of clubs including Aviation, Future Voices (a communication and broadcasting club), Art, Robotics, Crafts, Chess, and more.

Arts

Arts education plays a vital role at Landmark.  Students receive a well-rounded art education, fostering self-expression, creativity, and a deep appreciation for beauty and culture. Students benefit from opportunities to explore their creative talents, and Landmark offers a diverse selection of arts courses exploring different areas from our performing arts, to our media arts and visual arts.

Athletics

Students have the opportunity to participate in a wide array of athletic offerings throughout their middle school years, allowing them to build physical fitness, teamwork, and develop their character. Middle school coaches emphasize sportsmanship, resilience, and the importance of giving one’s best effort on and off the field. Landmark athletes cultivate healthy habits that will last a lifetime.
