Meet 2025's Inductees

Christy Giardino (’97)

Christy Giardino graduated from Landmark Christian in 1997 and went on to earn degrees from Berry College and Shorter University, studying music, religion, and business administration. She is a Master Leadership Coach, Certified Behavioral Consultant, SHRM Senior Certified Professional, and a SYMBIS Assessment Facilitator. Currently, she serves as Director of Administration and Information Systems at ADMO Inc. Passionate about ministry and encouragement, Christy has written for Women of Grace and Dignity and maintains a faith-based lifestyle blog sharing her journey of marriage, infertility, and God’s faithfulness. She previously led worship, taught students, served on the board at Word of Life Free Methodist Church, and recorded original songs—several in collaboration with fellow Landmark alumni. Christy and her husband, Nick (’97), met as Landmark students and married in 2013. They now minister to couples walking through relationship and infertility struggles, and together they design furniture and home décor, sharing their work through their website, thegiardinos.com. Their daughter, Hailee Grace, begins kindergarten this year. Christy credits Landmark’s foundation of faith, leadership, and mentorship for shaping her life and career and treasures the lifelong relationships formed during her time there.

“I loved my time at Landmark and see it as such a gift in my life. I do believe that my foundation in the scriptures, servant leadership, and the amazing teachers and friends at Landmark have been absolutely critical to my success in ministry, career, and even in relationships. I met my husband when we were both 15 at Landmark, when Mrs. Hughes decided to partner me with the new transfer, who was a bit shy. We sat beside each other in Mr. Gay’s Bible class as we dug deeply into the wisdom of Proverbs. We played together in the 1st-period band with Mr. Cranfill. And, we have a shared history of being mentored by the same wonderful teachers (too many to name)! I am still being mentored by Bonnie Wozniak. Landmark will always have a strong place in my heart and will be a place I will promote.”

Lance Batiste (’98)

Lance Batiste, a 1998 Landmark graduate, was a member of the school’s State Champion Track teams of ’96, ’97, and ’98. He went on to attend Morehouse College, and in 1999 experienced a life-changing encounter with the Lord that set him on a path of ministry. By 2007, Lance was serving as a youth pastor at his home church, preaching across the U.S., Canada, Germany, and Romania. He later became an Elder and Associate Pastor before joining Landmark’s Christian Life Team in 2018. At Landmark, Lance has had the unique privilege of teaching his own children, which he considers a blessing. He and his wife, Lydia, whom he met in 1999, have three children—Trinity (’20), Israel (’23), and Isabelle (’25)—all Landmark alumni pursuing careers in pharmacy, engineering, and nursing. In addition to teaching and mentoring students, Lance is also a realtor and Centurion Award–winning sales professional with Century 21. A passionate foodie, he runs the popular TikTok account Atlantafoodsnob, traveling nationwide to review restaurants. He is also a devoted Atlanta Falcons fan and season ticket holder since 2017.

“It is an honor to have been nominated to be a part of the Landmark Alumni Hall of Honors. I am grateful to have made an impact in the lives to others to even be considered for such an honor.”

Arshaad Norwood (’01)

Arshaad Norwood, widely known as “The Brother Behind the Bristles,” is a distinguished Atlanta visual artist and educator with over 20 years of experience. Born in Philadelphia and raised in Christian City Foster Care, he graduated from Landmark Christian School in 2001 before earning a B.A. from LaGrange College and later a Master’s in Secondary Education. His career began as a graphic artist before gaining recognition in 2009 when his painting The Triumph won first place at the Arts Clayton Gallery. Since then, Arshaad has become a celebrated muralist, art educator at Jonesboro High School, and founder of ArtbyArshaad LLC, where he creates and mentors emerging artists. His work has been showcased internationally, including as the Featured Artist for Zeta Phi Beta Sorority’s Centennial Art Collection. He has been recognized by leaders such as Oscar winner Mo’Nique, Mayor Andre Dickens, and Bishop Sedgwick Daniels, with features in ArtsATL, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and Atlanta News First. His art is displayed across Metro Atlanta, including Blu Rose Art Bistro and Christian City. Arshaad’s journey from foster care to acclaimed artist and educator highlights his resilience, talent, and commitment to inspiring the next generation of creatives.

“My goal is to be a trailblazer for the Arts and leave a legacy of excellence for all artists from foster homes and underprivileged communities. This honor would be a great stepping stone to cementing that legacy for future generations to come.”

Alex Mortensen (’04)

Alex Mortensen, a 2004 Landmark graduate, is the most decorated football player in school history. As quarterback, he led Landmark to back-to-back region championships, a 2003 run to the third round of the GHSA playoffs, and was named the AJC Class A Offensive Player of the Year. He finished his high school career with over 6,000 passing yards and multiple all-state honors. Mortensen went on to play quarterback at the University of Arkansas, graduating in 2009 with a communications degree, and later earned a master’s in Sport Management from Alabama. He began his coaching career in 2012 at New Mexico Highlands, followed by roles with the St. Louis Rams, Birmingham Iron, and nine seasons at the University of Alabama. During his time with the Crimson Tide, he helped develop quarterbacks including Jalen Hurts, Tua Tagovailoa, Mac Jones, and Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young, contributing to three national championships. In 2022, Mortensen was named Offensive Coordinator at UAB. His first two seasons produced record-setting offenses, highlighted by school records in passing, rushing, and all-purpose yards. A Broyles Award nominee, Mortensen continues to be recognized as one of college football’s top offensive minds.

“Landmark had a tremendous impact on my spiritual, mental, physical, and emotional development in my formative years. It also created relationships that I still have to this day. I don’t know how I was nominated, but this would be a tremendous honor to me and my family.”

Ashley Chastain Woodard (’07)

Ashley Chastain Woodard, a 2007 Landmark graduate, enjoyed a standout softball career before earning her B.A. in History and M.A.T. in Secondary Education from the University of South Carolina, where she pitched three seasons and ranked among the program’s top 15 in career relief appearances. Following her playing career, she served as South Carolina’s graduate assistant coach and spent time as pitching coach for the German National Team, Ole Miss, Michigan State, and the College of Charleston. She was named the 2019 Softball America Pitching Coach of the Year after helping Ole Miss reach the NCAA Super Regionals. In 2019, Chastain became head coach at Charlotte, where she transformed the program. Over five seasons, she guided the 49ers to a 154-96 record, two NCAA postseason berths, a conference championship, and the program’s first national ranking. She coached multiple All-Conference, NFCA All-Region, and All-American players while earning marquee wins over nationally ranked opponents, including Georgia, Virginia Tech, and Arizona State. On June 11, 2024, Chastain was named the 11th Head Softball Coach at the University of South Carolina. She married Robert Woodard, head baseball coach at Charlotte, in November 2024.

“I was in Landmark’s first kindergarten class all the way up to graduating high school in 2007. It was home for me, where I grew up, and where I met the Lord. Being at Landmark shaped and changed my adult life, and I wouldn’t be where I am today in my career without the guidance of all the teachers and staff who poured into me during all my years at Landmark. Their impact still affects my heart to this day as I lead other people. It would be one of the greatest honors of my lifetime to be considered for the Landmark Alumni Hall of Honors. Thank you.”

“Being inducted into the Landmark Alumni Hall of Honors would be an incredible achievement for me. I started attending Landmark Christian School in 3rd grade, and from the day I walked through the doors, the teachers, faculty, and staff constantly reminded me that every student is here to impact the world for Jesus Christ. I know that without Christ, I could have never accomplished all of the things I’ve listed above. Landmark helped me build a firm foundation in Christ so that I could navigate through the many different seasons of life. I am proud to see the impact Landmark has had on me and so many others around the world, and it would be an honor to be a part of that legacy.”

We look forward to seeing you at the Alumni Hall of Honors Banquet and Induction Ceremony.
