Living Our Faith Together

Living Our Faith Together

A Community Practice Statement for Faculty and Staff of Landmark Christian School

Purpose of This Document

The Landmark Christian School Statement of Faith articulates our shared theological convictions – what we believe. This companion document exists to expand how those beliefs are lived out in practice, particularly by faculty and staff who shape the spiritual, academic, and cultural life of the school every day. This document is intended for Landmark’s key stakeholders, board, faculty, staff, administrators, and leadership, and serves as a guide for shared expectations, communal practices, and Christ-centered conduct. It reflects our conviction that faith is not only confessed, but embodied. As a Christian school, Landmark understands that education is never neutral. The way we teach, lead, speak, resolve conflict, and love one another forms students as powerfully as any curriculum. Therefore, this document seeks to articulate the rhythms, commitments, and practices that sustain a healthy Christian community and support our mission of preparing students to impact the world for Jesus Christ.

A Shared Calling

Scripture teaches that we are not only saved by grace, but formed for purpose.

Ephesians 2:10 “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

At Landmark, we believe faculty and staff play a vital role in stewarding those good works, not only in students, but in one another. This calling shapes how we grow spiritually, how we conduct ourselves professionally, and how we relate within our community.

Spiritual Commitments

Living rooted lives in Christ

We believe that effective Christian education flows from a vibrant, authentic relationship with Jesus Christ. Therefore, faculty and staff are expected to pursue ongoing spiritual growth, not as a performance, but as a lived reality. 4

Our Commitments Include:

  • Personal spiritual formation, expressed through regular engagement with Scripture, prayer, and worship.
  • Active participation in a local church, recognizing that Christian formation happens best within the broader Body of Christ.
  • Modeling Christlike character in speech, conduct, and decision-making, both on and off campus.

Faculty and staff are not expected to be perfect, but they are expected to be faithful, humble learners who live under the authority of Scripture and the lordship of Christ.

Professional and Vocational Integrity

Serving wholeheartedly as unto the Lord

Landmark views every role, teacher, coach, administrator, support staff, as a calling, not merely a job. Excellence in our work is an act of worship and a testimony to students, families, and the broader community.

Our Commitments Include:

  • Alignment with Landmark’s mission and philosophy of Christian education, supporting the school’s Christ-centered identity in word and deed.
  • Engagement in shared spiritual practices that foster unity, consistency, and a common culture across campus.
  • Excellence in work ethic, performing responsibilities with diligence, integrity, and joy, “as working for the Lord.”
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development, recognizing that growth in skill and wisdom honors God and serves students well.

We believe that the pursuit of excellence is an act of worship.

Relational Commitments Within the School Community

Loving our neighbor as ourselves

Jesus taught that love for neighbor is not optional, it is central to faithful discipleship. At Landmark, relationships matter deeply, and how we treat one another reflects what we believe about God, humanity, and the gospel.

Our Commitments Include:

Christlike Love and Unity

  • Loving our neighbor through patience, kindness, humility, and generosity of spirit.
  • Considering others more highly than ourselves and seeking the good of the whole community.
  • Avoiding cynicism and fostering a culture of hope, gratitude, and encouragement.

Healthy Communication

  • Speaking truthfully and graciously, avoiding gossip, slander, or divisiveness.
  • Practicing discernment, civility and grace when engaging differing viewpoints, especially on complex or sensitive issues.
  • Guarding the unity and reputation of Landmark by representing the school with wisdom and integrity in public and private settings.

Peacemaking and Reconciliation

  • Addressing conflict graciously and redemptively, following the biblical pattern outlined in Matthew 18.
  • Practicing forgiveness and reconciliation as normal rhythms of community life, not rare exceptions.
  • Seeking restoration over winning, and relationship over resentment.

Commitment to Human Dignity and Care

Honoring the image of God in every person

We believe every person is created in the image of God (Imago Dei) and is therefore worthy of dignity, respect, and care. This conviction shapes how we lead, teach, discipline, and serve.

Our Commitments Include:

  • Honoring colleagues, administrators, students, and families as image-bearers of God.
  • Practicing hospitality and encouragement, cultivating a culture where people feel seen, valued, and welcomed.
  • Pursuing lives marked by freedom and self-control, we commit to stewarding our bodies, minds, and habits in a way that reflects devotion to Christ, refusing to be mastered by any substance, behavior, or appetite, and instead practicing wisdom, discernment, and moderation for the sake of spiritual health, human dignity, and faithful witness.
  • Reinforcing a safe, nurturing, Christ-centered environment in which students and staff can flourish spiritually, emotionally, and academically.
  • Affirming God’s good design in creation, we believe He created humanity as male and female, distinctly bearing His image, and that marriage is intended to be a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman. Sexual intimacy exists within these bounds, reflecting God’s purpose for family and human flourishing.
  • Engaging in service within and beyond the school community as an expression of Kingdom citizenship.

Conclusion: Faith Lived Together

This document is not intended to function as a checklist, but as a shared covenant of practice. It reflects Landmark’s belief that Christian education flourishes when adults live lives conformed to the image of Christ, worthy of imitation – imperfect, dependent on grace, and deeply committed to Christ and one another.

By God’s grace, we seek to be a community where belief becomes practice, where truth is embodied in love, and where students encounter not only excellent education, but a compelling vision of life in Christ.
